It involves creating a network diagram that considers the sequence and duration of all activities in order to identify the project\u2019s critical path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Functioning and Calculation<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>CPM assumes that all project activities, along with their estimated durations and logical dependencies, are represented in a network diagram. Based on this, two fundamental calculation steps are performed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Forward pass:<\/strong> Determination of the earliest possible start and finish times for all activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Backward pass:<\/strong> Determination of the latest possible start and finish times while maintaining the overall project duration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>From the difference between these values, float times (or slack) can be calculated\u2014these represent the time reserves of individual activities.
